It was a typical mid-winter day in Ottawa: windy, snow, slush, grey sky, cold temperatures. However, we knew that wouldn't keep our beer running friends away from enjoying a day on the canal and post run beers @ centre town newest brewery Flora Hall Brewing. It was a quick hop skip over to the canal from the brewery where our groups ran a there + back route before returning for their pints. Although we stagger our start times so everyone can ideally return at the same time, these wintery conditions do not plan in our planning favour, with runners returning between 1:00-1:20PM. We had hoped to feature a high five train outside into the brewery for our beers but with such varied end times for runners + light freezing rain, the high five train moved inside. Participants were welcomed to a pint of whatever beer on tap their hearts desired from Flora Hall Brewing, located in Ottawa's Centretown district, and newly opened in the fall of 2017. Christophe behind the bar was a rock star and provide top notch service to our group, while providing education on all the beer options. See beer list below for what was on tap that day and enjoyed by our runners. The most popular selections were the Macchiato Brown Ale, North East IPA, Oatmeal Stout, and the Cherry Sherbet Sour. I personally enjoyed the Sherbet Sour and the Farmhouse Saison. Needless to say, I think I could have gone with any of the beers on tap and any of them would have won me over. I left with two 4 packs of the Oatmeal Stout and NE IPA to bring home and enjoy watching the Super Bowl with! Most of our group took advantage of the stellar food menu that was available while enjoying additional beer orders (see food menu below).
